Bioenergetics
Bioenergetics is the study of how energy flows through living systems, particularly how cells produce, store, and utilize energy to sustain life. It focuses on the biochemical and physiological processes that convert food and oxygen into ATP (the energy our cells use to function), and how disruptions in this process affect metabolism, health, and disease.
The energy we generate in every cell—ATP—fuels everything we do, from thinking to moving. Our cells depend on it for their daily function, repair, and regeneration.
ATP is made inside the mitochondria, tiny energy factories within our cells. The food we eat can either enhance or impair this process, and maintaining strong energy production, especially as we age, is key to staying healthy long-term.
